Michigan State football trending with two 3-star DBs in 2024 class
Recruiting is beginning to heat up for Mel Tucker and Michigan State football and that should be music to fans’ ears as a lot of them have been wondering when we’d see a flurry of commits.
Michigan State had just three commitments heading into the month of June when official visits kicked off and that was after it had lost the pledges of Nick Marsh and Jamari Howard not long before. Now, the Spartans are looking at adding to the class by the time June ends.
There’s only a week left in the month, but Michigan State is trending for a couple of top targets.
In fact, Justin Denson and Syair Torrence, a couple of three-star defensive backs, have been trending toward Michigan State in the past 24 hours, according to On3’s prediction machine.
Denson, according to On3, is projected to end up at Michigan State with a 93.9 percent mark on the prediction machine. Torrence, on the other hand, is sitting at 96.7 percent in terms of chances to end up at Michigan State.
Should we believe those high numbers? Maybe not, but we’ll see soon.
Michigan State football closing in on a heck of a DB class
I’ve spoken about this before but Michigan State is shaping up to have one of its best defensive back classes since Mel Tucker took over.
Four-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson is committed and high-three-star Reggie Powers committed this month along with unranked defensive back Camren Campbell. And now the Spartans are trending for two more guys.
Denson is a high-three-star as well, ranked the No. 656 overall recruit in the class according to the composite. Torrence is on the higher end of three-stars, given an 88 rating by On3 and an 87 by 247Sports. Adding both of these guys would sew up a great class.
Oh, and we saw five-star cornerback Charles Lester III taking an unofficial visit on Wednesday and spending the night.
It’s good to see the staff prioritize a position group that has been a weakness for years.
