College basketball coaches were free to reach out directly to rising juniors this week and Tom Izzo wasted no time making his presence known. The Michigan State basketball coach has been recruiting at an elite level over the past couple of classes now and he’s looking to make sure that continues in 2025.

In 2023, Izzo was able to land Xavier Booker, Jeremy Fears, Coen Carr, and Gehrig Normand and the 2024 class is off to a hot start with Kur Teng and Jesse McCulloch committed.

The 2025 cycle could be even more impressive for Izzo.

According to Joe Tipton, Michigan State reached out to Darius Acuff, Koa Peat, and Jalen Haralson as soon as the dead period was lifted. Each of these guys has a chance to be a top-10 player in the 2025 class by the time the cycle ends and Izzo is pushing hard for them all.

Michigan State basketball eyeing three game-changers

Let’s first take a look at Acuff who is the local kid of the group. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound point guard from Detroit has a chance to be one of the best prospects in the class and while he currently doesn’t have a ranking on 247Sports, it’s only a matter of time before he skyrockets. He would be the perfect fit in the class and could be the next great Spartan point guard.

Next, there’s Peat who is actually the younger brother of Cassius Peat, a former Michigan State football player. There’s a connection here. He’s the No. 3 overall recruit in the class and a future star at the power forward position. Adding him would be massive for Izzo. The Spartans were one of his most recent offers.

Lastly, there’s Haralson. The five-star combo guard from Indiana is ranked the No. 9 overall prospect in the class and basically everyone is interested. At 6-foot-6, 206 pounds, he’s got great size and would be a nice fit right next to Acuff in the backcourt.

Imagining a class with two of these three guys would be massive and we’ll see if Izzo is able to seal the deal.

And then there’s this:

No one really expects Cooper Flagg to play high school ball and instead opt for the G-League route, but it’s interesting to see that Izzo reached out to the No. 2 player in the class who is on everyone’s radar.
