Going into Iowa City to end the month of September won’t be easy. The Hawkeyes are my pick to win the Big Ten West this season and they will have a familiar face at quarterback: Cade McNamara. The former Michigan quarterback put up some career numbers against the Spartans in 2021.

Will Michigan State be able to shock everyone and pick up a big win at Kinnick? I’m not so sure about that, but I think this is a game in which the defense will prove it has a pulse, hanging with Iowa.

Still, it’ll end in a tough loss.

Prediction: Loss (3-2, 1-1)

After a tough loss, Michigan State will stay on the road to face Rutgers in Piscataway. Greg Schiano has found it difficult to rebuild the program he built up once already before heading to the NFL and I think he’s going to have another mediocre season.

Michigan State will need this win to keep those bowl aspirations alive and well and they’ll get it. For the third straight year, the Spartans will get the best of Rutgers and it’ll have that same feel as the 2021 win as Nathan Carter runs wild.

Prediction: Win (4-2, 2-1)
