Michigan State football visit impresses 4-star LB Kris Jones
Michigan State football made a legitimate impression on one of the best prospects from the 2024 recruiting class.
Earlier last week, four-star linebacker Kris Jones revealed that he would be taking an official visit to Michigan State on June 11. It was at the tail-end of the official visit weekend, but it was a chance for Mel Tucker to get some serious 1-on-1 time with the elite linebacker.
The Fairfax, Va., product took a trip to East Lansing a week after visiting Florida and he still plans on checking out Georgia next weekend.
But he seemed to have loved his trip to East Lansing and it made a major impression on him.
Michigan State football impresses Jones
According to Jason Killop of On3, Jones spoke highly of his visit, saying that he was pleasantly surprised by what the program had to offer.
He went on to say that Tucker is a “cool dude” and that not many coaches give 1-on-1 time like the Michigan State head coach did.
You can read Killop’s whole story at On3 if you have a subscription, but the quote he provided is telling to how much of an impression Tucker made on the four-star from Virginia. Getting a Sunday-Tuesday visit may actually help the Spartans here because of that 1-on-1 time.
Michigan State needs some positive recruiting news and it may not come from Jones, but hearing that Tucker knocked this visit out of the park is still encouraging.
Jones is the No. 125 overall recruit and ninth-best linebacker in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Florida is the presumed leader in his recruitment.
