The quarterback position has been the main topic of conversation over the past couple of recruiting classes and although Michigan State football has missed on some top targets in 2024 already, Mel Tucker and Co. are looking to expand their board.

The Spartans will be hosting a couple of quarterback targets for officials in the coming weeks, namely under-the-radar gunslinger Miles O’Neill, but they’re also keeping their options open.

In fact, Michigan State not only offered O’Neill recently, but it extended a scholarship offer to another rising prospect.

That prospect is the three-star quarterback son of Matt Hasselbeck, Henry Hasselbeck.

Feel old? That’s right, Hasselbeck who played in the NFL until 2015 and had nearly 40,000 career passing yards now has a son who is about to enter college. He also happens to be the No. 49 quarterback in the class hailing from Westwood, Mass.

He’s now added to the expanding board of quarterbacks which, in my opinion, should be led by O’Neill. Hasselbeck is projected to land at Boston College where his sisters currently attend school and where his father went.

Michigan State football has options at QB

Unlike in previous classes when Michigan State was forced to land a quarterback late in the process by flipping them from Boise State (Katin Houser) and Washington State (Sam Leavitt), Tucker is working hard to get his guy early.

Michigan State is in on three-star Maealiuaki Smith, O’Neill, and now Hasselbeck after missing out on Davi Belford and Jake Merklinger who were arguably the top two quarterback targets in the class.

Will Michigan State be able to close on one of these three guys?
