Michigan State Football: Pros and cons of move to Ford Field
Con: Lose a home game and home-field advantage
The most obvious con to the Ford Field move is the football team losing a home game.
At a time where there aren’t a lot of quality Big Ten teams, we look forward to playing quality opponents. For season ticket holders, it’s really buy three games, get four free. Washington, Michigan, and Penn State are the only home games that are worth the price of season tickets and now one of those is being taken away. Even when the product on the field isn’t as good, prices conveniently go up and now the cost of each game just went up that much more.
Also, as previously mentioned, Penn State has only won in East Lansing twice in 15 years. Does a neutral site that is 90 miles closer to Pennsylvania mean PSU fans are more willing to make the drive? Does taking the weather benefit or hurt any of the teams?
I guarantee that the spread will be more in Penn State’s favor now that the game is not in East Lansing, despite who the crowd is rooting for.
