Remember when some rival fans said that Tom Izzo was washed up or the game had passed him by? Yeah, that looks a little ridiculous right now as the Michigan State basketball coach is recruiting at a higher level than he has in years.

In fact, he just landed the No. 4 recruiting class in college basketball for 2023 and he already has two four-stars committed in his 2024 class in Kur Teng and Jesse McCulloch.

And he’s not done yet.

According to a report from 24/7 High School Hoops, Michigan State is one of the schools reaching out the most to five-star shooting guard Isaiah Elohim from Sierra Canyon in California.

Elohim is also hearing from Kansas, UCLA, Arkansas, Kansas State, and USC but the Spartans being involved here is an interesting development because this isn’t a name that’s connected to Michigan State a ton when projecting Izzo’s 2024 class.

Elohim would be a massive Michigan State basketball win

Swiping Elohim from USC and UCLA would be a huge win for Izzo. Even bigger would be stealing him from Bill Self and Kansas who have had the Spartans’ number over the years.

Elohim is an elite prospect, ranked No. 16 overall and he’s the third-best shooting guard in the class, according to 247Sports. He’s already taken an official visit to Kansas and it would be huge if Izzo can get him to campus.

Imagining a roster with Xavier Booker, Jeremy Fears, Kur Teng, Coen Carr, Gehrig Normand, Tre Holloman, Jaxon Kohler, Jesse McCulloch, and Elohim is incredibly intriguing.

It looks like Izzo isn’t slowing down any time soon.
