Maliq Carr has a world of potential at his fingertips, and I don’t think anyone disagrees. Everyone has known of that potential ever since he transferred to Michigan State from Purdue, but he just needs to remain consistent and become a better blocker. If he does that, he’ll be impossible to keep off the field.

Following the transfer of Payton Thorne and Keon Coleman, Carr took to Twitter to calm Michigan State fans down, promising them that the Spartans were in good hands with him and both Noah Kim and Katin Houser. It feels like he’s finally ready to take that next step.

With Coleman gone as well as Jayden Reed, Carr is going to need to step up as the potential top target of whoever is wins the quarterback battle.

The athleticism he has at the tight end position is a game-changer.

Carr had 16 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns in 2022 and I could see him at least doubling that production in 2023.
