Remember the name Cassius Peat? He played football for Mark Dantonio for a couple of years and had an interesting career in East Lansing. Well, he has a younger brother who plays basketball and is one of the best recruits in the nation.

Koa Peat is one of the best recruits in the nation not just in the 2025 class, but in all classes. He’s ranked the No. 3 prospect in the class and he’s a five-star, per 247Sports.

And on Tuesday, he received an offer from his brother’s former school.

Peat announced on Twitter that Tom Izzo extended an offer.

This offer makes sense as Izzo was in Phoenix for the Suns game on Tuesday night with some of his coaching staff and Mat Ishbia. Peat is from nearby Gilbert, Ariz.

This is a big-time offer for the staff.

Koa Peat could become Michigan State basketball’s top target

Peat already holds over two dozen offers and he’s being looked at by some of the top programs in college basketball. Essentially everyone wants Peat.

But with Michigan State having a connection through his brother and Koa likely spending some time in East Lansing as a kid, the Spartans could have somewhat of an advantage. There’s still a lot of ground to make up since he does have nearly 30 offers already, but Izzo is willing to put in the work.

Peat is now one of just seven 2025 prospects with an offer from Michigan State, joining Jeremiah Fears (unranked), Jalen Haralson (No. 9), Francis Chukwudebelu (No. 23), Trey McKenney (No. 29), Jerry Easter (No. 37), and Trent Sisley (No. 41). The distinction for No. 1 target in the class for Izzo and Co. has to be between Haralson, McKenney, and Peat.

Izzo has been on fire, so don’t be shocked if his 2025 class is elite, too.

Next. Projected starting 5 with Malik Hall back. dark
