OK, look, this isn’t about preferences at the quarterback position or who I think will win the job in the end. This is more so the fact that Noah Kim changed the public perception that the quarterback battle was a two-man race between Payton Thorne and Katin Houser. He really stepped up and inserted his name into the race emphatically.

Kim was by no means perfect on the day and had some iffy throws here and there, but he also had some of the best tosses of the afternoon, including a late touchdown pass that landed directly in the bucket to Antonio Gates Jr.

If I’m Kim, I feel better about where I was before spring ball started. The staff seems to really like what he brings to the table and he continues to impress. If I’m Thorne or Houser, I now realize that this isn’t going to be an easy job to win.

However, if you’re a Spartan fan, you have to feel like there are now three (maybe four if you count Sam Leavitt) Big Ten starting-caliber quarterbacks on the roster.

This position should surely improve in 2023.
