4. Iowa (Jan. 26)

Another game where MSU responded to adversity. Iowa comes out to a 10-0 lead with nothing falling into the basket early for the Spartans. From there, it was just a rock fight for both sides.

Iowa had a six-point lead for a moment until the Spartans tied it with about 12 minutes to go. From there, there were nine lead changes and three ties.

As if that wasn’t enough stress and drama, AJ Hoggard missed a free throw with 20 seconds left that would have put the Spartans up three. I think every single one of us feared the worst, having seen the Spartans fail to close out games multiple times during the season.

Then not only did Payton Sandfort have a clean look for a game winning three, Iowa gets the rebound and he gets another great look to win the game. After watching the ball fall harmlessly off the rim, it just felt so nice to have a little luck on the Spartans’ side for a change.
