1. It’s time for some (rapid) soul-searching

After a performance like the one we saw on Friday, Michigan State needs to do some soul-searching, and quickly.

It wouldn’t have mattered much if the Spartans lost but played well against the hottest team in the Big Ten, but the fashion in which they lost was disappointing and honestly a little shocking. It’s March and the Spartans are still searching for consistency.

And this was the first game of the season that I could honestly say that this team looked like it didn’t want to be there. Sure, there was the Purdue game, too, but at least they out-scored the Boilermakers in the second half of that game in West Lafayette. They showed some fight in the second half of that game.

Michigan State showed some fight early in the second half on Friday against the Buckeyes, but for the most part, they looked confused, frustrated, and checked-out.

That’s a cause for some soul-searching.

The NCAA Tournament is next week and there can’t be a repeat performance of what we saw against Ohio State because the season is now officially on the line. Time to figure it out.
