In-season glow-up: AJ Hoggard

Whatever AJ Hoggard had going on while the team was in the beginning of the season is nobody’s business. But my goodness, it wouldn’t shock me if already had his in-flight movie picked out on the way home from Oregon.

Marred by turnovers, fouls and poor body language, Hoggard’s season looked to be taking a nosedive quickly. After a brutal home loss to Northwestern, Hoggard finally awoke from his slump and finished the regular season with an impressive 2.31 assist-to-turnover ratio, good for fourth in the Big Ten.

The old cliché is that success in the NCAA tournament is guard-driven, and if MSU hoops wants to make it past the first weekend, Hoggard is the main straw that stirs that success. Look for him to drive the hoop more often if the outside shoot goes cold at any point this month.
