David Stone loves himself some Michigan State football.

The five-star from Oklahoma has been to East Lansing a number of times and he’s almost made it his second home this offseason.

Heading into his senior season at IMG Academy, Stone is looking to wrap up his recruitment soon and Michigan State looks like a top contender to land him along with Oklahoma. He’s even stated that Oklahoma is where he’s from but Michigan State is home.

That’s substantial.

Now, he’ll be in East Lansing for the third time in a couple of months. He visited Michigan State in January and then again just days later and now he’s planning on heading back to East Lansing on March 14, according to reports.

This is a major development as his recruitment heats up and he could potentially be on commit watch on just about every visit. No, I don’t see him wrapping it up that quickly as one of the most sought-after recruits in the class, but it feels like he and Mel Tucker have a great relationship and he could become a Spartan at any moment.

This is a big visit.

Could David Stone be Michigan State football’s next five-star commit?

It’s been a while since Michigan State landed a five-star prospect. It was Malik McDowell about a decade ago under Mark Dantonio but Tucker has yet to land one. He’s been close, but probably never this close.

Kiyaunta Goodwin and Samson Okunlola were close but Stone seems to show Michigan State more love than either of those other two did.

Now, with another visit scheduled and the Spartans likely to get an official visit — he promised Tucker the last official — this fall, Michigan State is looking really good here. The Spartans also have crystal balls from some MSU insiders as they feel good about their chances with Stone.

If I were to guess, I’d say Stone ends up a Spartan because of how much he loves checking out East Lansing and the fact that Diron Reynolds was hired as the defensive line coach and they’re building their relationship, it just feels like he’s MSU-bound.

Plus, he was disrespected by On3’s latest rankings, so he is almost too good of a fit.
