Michigan State football: 5-star DL target David Stone disrespected in latest On3 rankings
I don’t often like to over-use the term “disrespect” because sometimes it can be used incorrectly, but the way Michigan State football target David Stone was treated in the latest On3 rankings warrants the use of it.
Stone was flat-out disrespected.
OK, he hasn’t stepped foot on a college campus yet and there’s no way to truly tell if he’s the best defensive lineman in the country, but the composite rankings have had him as a top-10 player in the 2024 class forever and he’s been widely regarded as the No. 1 defensive lineman.
But on Monday, On3 released its latest rankings and Stone dropped drastically.
Previously a five-star, Stone came in at No. 64 and dropped his rating to a four-star and he’s also now listed as On3’s seventh-best defensive lineman in the class. Just a wild drop.
Maybe he’ll fit right in at Michigan State, after all.
Michigan State football is right there for Stone
Michigan State has long been in the mix for Stone and some believe that the Spartans actually lead for him as we are about a year out from 2024 National Signing Day.
This drop in rankings and massive disrespect may only play into the fact that he fits in here. Michigan State has been known to use the “disrespect” card and Stone being dropped from a five-star to No. 64 and the seventh-best defensive lineman in the 2024 class is crazy to me, especially when you watch his highlight reels, see how dominant he is, and realize he has an insane work ethic in the offseason as well.
But hey, if On3 isn’t going to show him respect, 247Sports and Rivals will. He’s still a composite five-star and 247Sports has him listed as the No. 4 prospect in the class.
Mel Tucker needs to get Stone to East Lansing.
