Michigan State basketball: 3 bold predictions for big road battle at Iowa
1. Michigan State holds Iowa under 70 for the second time
Rarely are you going to contain an Iowa offense, you just have to hope it’s having an off-night. For the past two games, Iowa has shot horribly from deep and that could play into the Spartans’ hands if the Hawkeyes are just cold lately.
Or Iowa could finally find its stride and get hot from deep.
I think it’ll be somewhere in the middle. Iowa will hit some shots but Michigan State’s defense will also force some misses on tough looks. The defense will step up for a second straight game following that debacle in Ann Arbor where the Spartans gave up 84 points — a major outlier.
Michigan State will lock down the perimeter, give up a few open looks, and hold the Hawkeyes under 70 points for the second time this season.
This may not seem like a huge accomplishment, but considering Iowa averages nearly 80 points per game and they have only been held under 80 at home once this season in Big Ten play and never under 75, this would be massive.
Will it lead to a win? It should.
