1. This win was massive for the community

To say the community needed this win after the nightmare that was last week would have been an understatement. No, I’m not trying to say a basketball win will fix anything, but it got everyone’s minds off the horrible week that was. It made thousands of fans inside Breslin Center and hundreds of thousands more around the country smile for two hours.

It was nice to be happy about something for a change.

And Tom Izzo echoed that sentiment after the game. He said that the only way he could repay the fans in attendance for showing up and the students and alums for their endless support would be by playing well and winning.

Michigan State is still in the middle of the grieving and healing process, but if there was ever a coach who could help with that, it’s Izzo.

You could see how much this win meant to him after the game as well when he embraced Alan Haller and then Mel Tucker in the tunnel. He was in tears before the game and after the game.

This win made people smile again, even if only for a couple of hours.
