Michigan State football: Elite 4-star RB Anthony Carrie schedules visit
For a couple of years now, Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has had bad luck in terms of landing his ‘Plan A’ running back targets. OK, maybe he doesn’t have a problem landing them, but keeping them committed.
In the 2021 class, it was Audric Estime who was committed before switching up right before signing day and picking Notre Dame after a dream offer.
In 2023, it was Kedrick Reescano’s turn to spurn the Spartans. He had been committed for months before deciding to reopen his recruitment when he started to get more national attention and he signed with Ole Miss despite looking like he’d be back with Michigan State.
Tucker is hoping that doesn’t happen again in the class of 2024 as he’s already beginning to look at potential Plan A targets at the running back position.
One of those targets is four-star Anthony Carrie, a high school teammate of 2023 class signee Eddie Pleasant from Tampa, Fla.
Anthony Carrie plans to check out Michigan State football
Carrie, the high school teammate of Pleasant, plans on visiting Michigan State this spring, according to Jason Killop of On3.
Landing Carrie over his extensive list of offers would be huge for Michigan State not only because it would show that the Spartans are playing with the big boys in the recruiting ranks but also he’s one of the top running backs in the nation, ranked No. 148 overall and 11th at the position, per the composite.
Let’s hope this “penciled in” visit becomes sharpied in and he makes it to East Lansing. Tucker needs to finally win one of these elite running back battles.
