Michigan State football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2023
A new era of Nebraska football is upon us. Matt Rhule has taken over for Scott Frost in a move that I honestly never thought would happen because the latter had such a long leash.
Now the Cornhuskers can be competitive again and I think that it’ll take a year or two before Nebraska is pushing for Big Ten titles. In case you don’t remember, Rhule took over a Baylor program that had been struggling and went 1-11 in his first year before going 18-9 over his final two seasons.
I expect the same type of growth here, although I do believe that Nebraska is better than a 1-2 win team. Nebraska will win 5-6 and potentially make a bowl, but this won’t be one of those wins.
Prediction: Win (7-2, 4-2)
This is probably the first, and only, game of the season that I can honestly say that I’m dreading. The Spartans rarely ever win in Columbus (two times since 2011) and Ohio State has been blowing the doors off of Michigan State in the Mel Tucker era. I expect that to continue, unfortunately.
CJ Stroud may be gone, but Ryan Day will be replacing him with former five-star Kyle McCord. On top of that, Marvin Harrison Jr. returns and so does that backfield.
Ohio State should win this one with ease and hand out another humbling loss.
Prediction: Loss (7-3, 4-3)
