Michigan State football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2023
This is the one game that I’m truly curious about. The Spartans were handled last season by the Washington Huskies in Seattle and that was before anyone really knew just how good they were. The Huskies went on to have a really solid season and Michael Penix Jr. was a Heisman candidate, leading the nation in passing.
Well, Penix is back and he’s had Michigan State’s number for years, dating back to his days at Indiana. But I think Michigan State finally bests the All-American quarterback.
The Spartans end the Pac-12 matchup curse and beat the Huskies in a thriller in East Lansing.
Prediction: Win (3-0)
This can be considered a revenge game because of what the Terrapins did to the Spartans in College Park last season. They were able to shut down the MSU offense (who wasn’t?) and pick up a two-score win over the Spartans at home. Michigan State hasn’t forgotten.
The Michigan State offense will perk up in this one as Maryland isn’t known for defense and we’ll see a team gaining confidence in front of our eyes.
Another Katin Houser masterclass in this one.
Prediction: Win (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten)
