Quarterback: A

I would give the quarterback addition an A+ but I feel like that is only reserved for a five-star or a multi-four-star class. But the late flip of Sam Leavitt from Washington State was massive.

Bo Edmundson was the first quarterback committed to Michigan State’s 2023 class and I thought that was a reach early on and if he ended up signing with the Spartans, this position group would have gotten a B- or a C+ instead of the A that I’m giving Leavitt.

After flipping Katin Houser from Boise State late in the 2022 process, I didn’t think Mel Tucker would be able to replicate that in the 2023 cycle. He did.

While Houser was a slightly higher-regarded quarterback prospect, Leavitt looks like the real deal. He finished in the final rankings as a four-star and went from a mid-three-star in the spring (0.8578 rating) to a solid four-star (0.9026) on Jan. 26.

Leavitt is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2023 class and Tucker really hit a home run by swiping him right from Washington State.

A quarterback room of Houser and Leavitt next year is going to be elite.
