Mel Tucker just signed his best recruiting class as Michigan State football’s head coach and he’ll hope that this group of 15 signees will help turn the program back in the right direction.

The class is fairly complete from the defensive line to the offensive line. There are some solid skill position players, a really good late-addition quarterback, and key positions addressed.

Let’s see how the 2023 class grades out, by position group.

Offensive line: A-

This was the best offensive line class in the Mel Tucker era as he and Chris Kapilovic may have missed on some Plan A guys like Samson Okunlola, Madden Sanker, Chimdy Onoh, and Chase Bisontis, but they made up for those with the additions of Stanton Ramil, Cole Dellinger, and Keyshawn Blackstock.

Not too bad.

Obviously landing Onoh on signing day would have been the perfect cap to an already-solid offensive line class, but they’ll have to settle for three four-stars.

Blackstock was one of the best offensive linemen in the JUCO ranks and will probably be an immediate starter, Ramil was one of the best offensive linemen in the class, flirting with the top 200 in the composite, and Dellinger will be the perfect interior offensive lineman.

This class built the trenches for the future.
