AJ Hoggard: C

This just simply wasn’t AJ Hoggard’s game.

From the opening tip, you could tell he just wasn’t on point like he usually is. He was making questionable decisions, and missing easy, open shots. Right when he took a long two instead of a higher percentage shot on the Spartans’ first possession early in the game, I knew it was going to be a long day for him.

But at least he got it out of his system.

Hoggard picked up a few bad fouls and his one assist to three turnovers just isn’t going to cut it on any given night in Big Ten play but luckily he was picked up by Malik Hall and Jaden Akins.

Not only was he making bad decisions on offense and struggling a bit on defense, he shot just 3-for-12 from the floor, missing a wide-open layup late in the second half and the front-end of a 1-and-1 that barely grazed the rim with MSU up two. He did hit a big 3-pointer before that ugly free throw, so his grade went from a C- up to a C because of it.

Hoggard will not want to remember this game.
