2. Three-point shooting and three-point defense were on point

When you think about what kind of games Michigan State usually runs away with, it’s the ones in which three-point shooting and three-point defense are on point.

That was Thursday night.

The Spartans were cooking from deep from the jump, hitting 12-of-22 threes at a 55 percent clip while holding the Scarlet Knights to just two makes from distance on 17 tries which was only a 12 percent mark. That massive discrepancy was the difference in this one.

When the Spartans are making their threes at a high rate and guarding the perimeter against solid shooters like Cam Spencer, they’re not going to lose many games.

Michigan State needs to keep this momentum flowing in the right direction when it comes to perimeter play.
