1. Michigan State is getting hot

When the Spartans fell to 5-4 after losing at home to Northwestern, I was ready to throw in the towel on the 2022-23 season.

Thankfully I didn’t.

Tom Izzo has worked his magic and got his team to buy back in and they’ve won on the road at Penn State, against Nebraska, against Michigan, and at No. 18 Wisconsin since. Now, the Spartans are riding a seven-game winning streak and are into a first-place tie with Purdue atop the Big Ten standings.

With Malik Hall back and Jaden Akins healthy, this team just looks so much better and they’re playing like we all expected after they gave Gonzaga a game and beat Kentucky and Villanova early in the season.

Michigan State is one of the top teams in the conference and if it can win at Illinois on Friday night, we can legitimately start talking about pushing Purdue for the Big Ten crown.
