Michigan State football has had success dipping into the MAC for transfer portal talent in the past (Jayden Reed) and there might just be another game-changing addition to make from the conference.

This week, Bowling Green star and second-team All-MAC safety Jordan Anderson entered the transfer portal after spending four seasons with the Falcons.

He immediately became one of the hottest names in the transfer portal.

Early on, he’s added a couple of offers, but Michigan State needs to keep an eye on him because he could be that missing piece on the defensive side of the ball. He was one of the best safeties in the MAC and Michigan State needs a safety to replace Xavier Henderson.

This would make up for missing out on Reggie Pearson to Oklahoma.

Michigan State football just makes sense for Anderson

Though Anderson doesn’t have elite size like Mel Tucker usually looks for (5-10, 192 pounds), he plays aggressively and has been one of the more productive safeties in the MAC for the past couple of seasons.

In fact, he has 104 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, 10 pass breakups, and four interceptions over the past two seasons with Bowling Green, earning All-MAC second-team honors in 2021.

Anderson would fill an immediate need for the Spartans at safety with 34 starts of experience under his belt over four years. Plus, he’s from Detroit so he’d be coming back home to finish his college career.

It all makes too much sense, so we’ll see if the Spartans reach out and show interest.
