Michigan State basketball: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Nebraska
1. Fully healthy, this team is very good
After watching Notre Dame torch the Spartans and then Northwestern take Michigan State down at Breslin Center about a month ago, I was ready to throw in the towel on the 2022-23 season.
But I’m glad I didn’t.
Michigan State was down arguably its most important player in Malik Hall as well as Jaden Akins and the Spartans just didn’t look like they were in a good spot with eight healthy scholarship players. But then Akins returned and then Hall finally came back at the end of December and now this team looks completely different and refreshed.
Mistakes were limited against Nebraska, there was much better ball movement, shot selection was great, and defense was on point.
When this team is completely healthy (even Joey Hauser had some injuries over the first two months), there aren’t a ton of teams who can beat them.
Michigan State just needs to take care of business in Big Ten play and stay healthy because the league is very winnable this year.
