Michigan State football just signed the No. 23 class in 2023 in the early period and then Mel Tucker turned right around to land his third four-star prospect in 2024 just a week later.

The Spartans currently have the No. 11 class in the country for 2024 after picking up a commitment from four-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson from Tennessee on Tuesday. He became the second out-of-state commitment for the Spartans in the class of 2024.

Nick Marsh, a top-100 receiver, is the lone in-state commit for Michigan State in 2024, but the Spartans could soon be adding to that group.

Who are the top three in-state targets at this point in the process for 2024?

This spot could very easily be saved for Brady Prieskorn, a four-star tight end from Rochester, Mich., but I think it’s going to be much more likely that the Spartans land Dylan Mesman.

Mesman is no slouch, though. Although Prieskorn is the best tight end in the state, sitting in the top 60 as a national recruit, Mesman is a four-star and he’s the 14th-best tight end in the country according to 247Sports. He’s also the No. 235 overall recruit in the nation.

Michigan State has been picking up commitments from tight ends left and right whether it be in the portal or via the last two recruiting classes and Mesman could be the Spartans’ second straight in-state four-star at the position.

I really like what the 6-5, 230-pounder brings to the table.
