7. One more wide receiver

With Jayden Reed declaring for the draft and Germie Bernard entering the transfer portal, I believe the Spartans need another wide receiver to bolster the room.

At the time of this writing, the Spartans just landed Aziah Johnson, a three-star wide receiver from Virginia, but one more wideout could not hurt the Spartans. There should not be a preference if this is through one more recruit, a transfer portal player, or convincing Germie Bernard to come back.

Even if this player is just meant to redshirt, the room needs it. Reed is gone, Bernard is likely gone, Terry Lockett left the team early in the season, and Tre Mosley is entering his senior season. That makes four scholarship receivers leaving the team in two seasons, with Johnson currently sitting as the only newcomer.

We are about a week from the early period signing day, and I’m eager to see if the staff has their sights set on anyone for this class. If not, the portal has just opened and I’m sure Mel Tucker has a plan for who would be a good addition to the 2023 roster.

If opposing secondaries want to leave our wide receivers Home Alone for Christmas, I won’t mind.
