Michigan State basketball: 3 bold predictions vs. Brown
1. Michigan State shoots 50 percent from deep
The topic of discussion lately has been the Spartans’ lackluster perimeter defense due to poor pick-and-roll recovery. That won’t be an issue on Saturday night, although I do believe that Brown might get hot from deep early before cooling down late (seems to be a trend vs. MSU).
Michigan State, on the other hand, will get hot from deep early on and stay hot, making at least 50 percent of its 3-point tries against the Bears.
The Spartans are coming off a decent game against Penn State in which they shot 6-for-14 from deep and I think that’s a sign of things to come. Michigan State will take that good shooting performance and build on it with a 9-for-17 game from deep against Brown.
Despite Brown’s pesky defense (over 7.0 steals per game), I think Michigan State’s offense will start to hum at the right time, and getting healthier will have a lot to do with this.
I don’t think the Spartans will cover the 16.5-point spread, but I do think they win comfortably.
