On Tuesday, Effrem Reed went down to Texas to check in with former Michigan State football commit Kedrick Reescano. It seemed like a smart move considering he hasn’t picked a new school since decommitting and vowed to keep Michigan State in his top schools.

A day earlier, the staff circled back with another target who seemingly moved on.

Brandon Jordan and Michigan State were recruiting David Hicks incredibly hard before he committed to Texas A&M back in September.

Now that the Aggies seem to be a mess right now with a number of fans wanting Jimbo Fisher gone after yet another disappointing season, Tucker and Co. are trying to get back into the fold with Hicks. On Monday, Tucker paid him a visit.

This is a pretty interesting development considering Hicks is still committed to Texas A&M and has shown no signs of a decommitment in the near future, but it’s something to monitor.

Michigan State football looking to bolster that defensive line

Tucker’s vision for the defensive line seems clear at this point. He wants a dominant group that gets after the quarterback and helps out the defensive backfield in a big way. This year, the Spartans were struggling to get pressure and it had a lot to do with just not having the bodies.

Well, going after a guy like Hicks still shows that even his best defensive line class (Bai Jobe, Andrew Depape, Jalen Thompson) isn’t enough. He wants to add as many pieces as possible.

With three four-stars committed and Ken Talley also coming in as a former four-star and Penn State transfer, the Spartans will have a nice group. Hicks could be the centerpiece of that.

Imagine Hicks (ranked No. 8 nationally and as the No. 1 DL) lining up next to Jobe every Saturday. Offensive lines would be miserable.

Let’s hope this hard work on the recruiting trail pays off.
