Michigan State football: 4-star JUCO IOL Keyshawn Blackstock is a must-land target
Barring some sort of miracle, Michigan State football’s 2022 season is over. There’s still a chance that some 5-7 teams could decline bowl invites but the likelihood of that is slim.
That means it’s offseason time for Mel Tucker and Co.
And that entails some extra recruiting and improving the roster over the next few months.
There are needs just about everywhere on the roster, leading to this 5-7 season, but a couple of position groups stand out above the rest: offensive line and secondary come to mind.
The offensive line could get a major boost in the next few months via the transfer portal and recruiting and a name to watch is Keyshawn Blackstock.
Michigan State football pushing hard for the No. 1 JUCO IOL
The nation’s No. 1 JUCO interior offensive lineman recently named Michigan State in his top 12 schools and with spring semester about a month away, he could choose a school before then.
Michigan State has had an offensive line problem over the past couple of years and Blackstock could help repair that group. Chris Kapilovic is already targeting five-star lineman Samson Okunlola but Blackstock is every bit as important. Adding both would, at the very least, improve the offensive line exponentially from the past couple of years.
And Michigan State might be getting a visit from Blackstock soon, according to Corey Robinson.
Tucker needs to land Blackstock as he would immediately boost that interior on the offensive line, especially if Geno VanDeMark continues to improve. Imagine the Spartans land Okunlola as well and bring in another offensive line recruit or two. They’d have one of the better young groups in the Big Ten, especially since Brandon Baldwin looks solid.
Blackstock could improve the 2023 outlook on the offensive line and it would return an adequate run game to East Lansing.
Hopefully the Spartans can get a visit.
