Jay Johnson’s seat has to be warming up this offseason. If you asked most Michigan State football fans what coaching changes they’d want to say, Johnson’s departure would be one of them.

But a recent development in the recruiting landscape may change people’s opinions.

It’s in regard to a certain five-star quarterback from Detroit.

After Kenny Dillingham accepted the Arizona State head coaching job, rumors began to swirl even more than they already had regarding Dante Moore’s future.

On Monday, it was reported that Moore deleted his Instagram post with his Oregon commitment, leaving room for even more speculation.

Would your opinion of Johnson change if he lands Moore?

Obviously Johnson has lost a lot of fans this season due to the regression of Payton Thorne and the ineffectiveness of the offense, but what would you think of him if he brought Moore to Michigan State football?

Would you take Moore if it meant that Johnson gets another few years to prove himself?

Johnson has proven to be a valuable recruiter when it comes to offensive players and especially quarterbacks and he had a solid relationship with Moore. He’s also helping the Spartans recruit some top 2024 quarterbacks as well. So does this change things?

In my opinion, it changes my mind. If he can bring Moore, a serious program-changing quarterback, to East Lansing to compete with Katin Houser, you’d have to respect that.

If he struggles with Moore and Houser at quarterback, then it would obviously be time to cut ties. But the relationship Johnson has with Dante is important.
