2. Michigan State shoots over 50 percent from the floor

Three games, three shaky shooting performances.

Michigan State shot 45 percent from the floor and 33 percent from deep against Northern Arizona, 40 percent from the floor and 19 percent from deep against Gonzaga, and 41 percent from the floor and 37 percent from deep against Kentucky.

That obviously needs to improve if Michigan State is going to have a shot at the Big Ten title this year. And I think it’s going to sooner rather than later.

Before the season, Tom Izzo talked up his team’s shooting ability but we haven’t seen it take shape yet. We’ve seen flashes (Joey Hauser and Pierre Brooks) but we just haven’t seen consistency from guys like Tyson Walker, AJ Hoggard, or Malik Hall.

I think Michigan State will shoot over 50 percent from the floor for the first time this season and around 40 percent from deep.
