Michigan State basketball opens the 2022-23 season on Monday night against Northern Arizona and this will be a nice warm-up game for upcoming battles against Gonzaga, Kentucky, Villanova, and Alabama, among others.

Northern Arizona is coming off a 9-23 season while the Spartans made the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Duke in heartbreaking fashion.

This game will be important for guys like AJ Hoggard, Tyson Walker, Malik Hall, and Joey Hauser to get going before facing  the onslaught of ranked teams.

Let’s get bold ahead of Monday’s season opener.

3. Michigan State basketball hits 10 threes

The Spartans were a little rusty against Grand Valley a week ago and if they want to really get going this season and push for a Big Ten title, they need to shoot lights out.

I think we’ll see a big step in the right direction on Monday night as Michigan State drills 10 shots from 3-point range to really take control of the game and get the offense going. If the defense can limit Northern Arizona to 50-60 points, this should be a blowout.

Michigan State’s ball movement in the exhibition game against GVSU was impressive so I think that continues and the Spartans find open guys on the perimeter more often than not.

I say 10 threes and around a 40-45 percent clip from deep.
