Michigan State football will reportedly try to flip 5-star QB Dante Moore
Michigan State football’s 2023 class got a little slimmer on Wednesday night as three-star quarterback Bo Edmundson decommitted.
The Texas native has been fighting through an injury all season long and hasn’t been evaluated much because he just can’t seem to stay healthy. It seems like this may have something to do with him leaving the Spartans’ class, but now Mel Tucker and Co. are in need of a quarterback.
Really only one guy’s name came to mind after I heard the Spartans were losing Edmundson and it didn’t seem all that realistic, but it was Dante Moore.
Not long after, 247Sports and The Athletic writer Justin Thind reported that the Spartans are going to make a push to try and flip Moore from Oregon.
He reported that multiple sources told him that the staff was going to circle back and gauge interest there which honestly is the smart move. At least see if there’s a chance and if not, move on to the next best option.
Dante Moore would be a game-changer for Michigan State football
With Payton Thorne struggling this year, the starting job might just be up for grabs in 2023. Many are hoping that highly-regarded freshman Katin Houser takes the reins, but it would be a good problem to have if Moore could come in and push him.
This is not very likely and if I were to bet, I’d say he sticks with Oregon seeing as the Ducks have done wonders with Bo Nix this year. But there was interest from Moore in MSU before the Spartans took a commitment from Edmundson. Circling back is just the smart move here.
Moore was high on Notre Dame before committing to Oregon and Michigan, Texas A&M, and Alabama were all in the mix, too, according to Thind.
He’s the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2023 class and the second-best quarterback as well, according to 247Sports.
Landing him would send shockwaves in the recruiting landscape. Let’s see what Mel can do.
