1. Michigan State covers the spread
I wish I had a better bold prediction to bring you, but Michigan State hasn’t lost many close games in the Mel Tucker era and this one will be tighter than people expect — at least for a half.
The early part of the game will be extremely tight as Michigan State will run some creative plays and get on the scoreboard against the Wolverines. I could see something like a 14-10 score at halftime in favor of Michigan. The Wolverines will begin to pull away in the second half and the score may be lopsided, but Michigan State will score a touchdown or two late to cover the spread.
Yes, I know that’s not what anyone wants to hear, but I just don’t think Michigan State has the pieces this year to compete with the Wolverines and expectations have shifted.
A win would absolutely vault this team into the final month with all the confidence and momentum in the world but a loss would crush the Spartans and potentially lead to a bowl-less season.
Michigan State covers the spread on Saturday.
