Michigan State basketball one of schools reaching out most to 4-star Amier Ali
Tom Izzo is hard at work in his 2024 class which could be the perfect complement to the 2023 group which may be one of the best Michigan State basketball has ever landed.
Though he’s been preparing for the upcoming season, Izzo has been in constant contact with some of the top prospects in 2024, including four-star small forward Amier Ali from IMG Academy, according to reports.
Ali is ranked the No. 29 overall prospect in the class as well as the eighth-best small forward, according to the 247Sports Composite. He may end up as a five-star before it’s all said and done.
It looks like Izzo has his top targets in his sights for the 2024 class which could be the perfect addition to a roster that’ll have Jaden Akins, Pierre Brooks, Jaxon Kohler, Carson Cooper, Tre Holloman, Jeremy Fears, Coen Carr, and Gehrig Normand (assuming Xavier Booker is a one-and-done).
Michigan State basketball’s 2024 class could be special, too
All the talk is about Izzo’s 2023 class which is currently ranked in the top five nationally and has arguably the top overall prospect in the cycle (Booker) committed but we can’t sleep on 2024.
It could be every bit as good.
Ali is the latest elite prospect to be in heavy talks with the Spartans and Izzo is also very high on James Brown (No. 27 prospect, No. 5 center), Kur Teng (No. 36 overall prospect, No. 8 shooting guard), Jase Richardson (No. 35 overall prospect, No. 5 point guard), Aiden Sherrell (No. 41 overall prospect, No. 6 power forward), and Jonathan Powell (No. 80 overall, No. 18 shooting guard).
If Izzo can land Brown, Sherrell, Richardson and one more guy like Ali, the Spartans will have back-to-back top-five classes and a legitimate national title-contending roster.
Seems like he was right when he said he wasn’t close to retirement.
