3. Ashton Porter, 4-star DL

Michigan State has been recruiting Ashton Porter hard for weeks now and that may have caused him to open up his recruitment after being committed to Northwestern since June.

The Spartans reached out and have been trying to flip him and they even had him on campus two weekends ago for an official visit and, by all accounts, he loved his trip. He opened up his recruitment again just days after the visit and that should be a good sign for Michigan State here.

Mel Tucker already has a really good class on the defensive line with Andrew Depaepe and Bai Jobe leading the way with Jalen Thompson right there, but you add in a guy like Porter and it’s one of the best in the nation for 2023.

The Cypress, Texas, native is ranked the No. 303 overall recruit and 43rd-best defensive lineman. He holds nearly three dozen offers and he could be an early contributor on Brandon Jordan and Marco Coleman’s defensive line.
