Running backs: C+

There was nothing great and nothing horrible about this group.

We wanted to see more Elijah Collins and we did. He finished second on the team in carries with 14 but he only had 43 yards. He did score a touchdown, but he didn’t have a ton of running room to work with. He always falls forward so I have to give him some credit for running hard and doing what he could with the lack of lanes he had.

Jalen Berger was facing his former team and he led the Spartans in rushing with 16 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown. He also looked decent and his early touchdown put the Spartans on the board. Again, no running lanes here hurt.

It’s tough to see the backs constantly combine for under 100 total rushing yards, but luckily the passing game more than made up for that.
