Michigan State football: 3 takeaways from embarrassing loss to Ohio State
1. It’s time to play the young guys
After yet another disappointing double-digit loss, Michigan State needs to start thinking about giving the young guys some run.
We’ve already seen Jaren Mangham play but he, unfortunately, had a scary injury on Saturday against Ohio State as TreVeyon Henderson lowered his head into the safety’s head and sent him to the hospital. He did return to the sideline at the end of the game which was a great sign and he probably will miss some time.
We did see some Dillon Tatum at the end of the game, we’ve seen Zion Young, and we’ve gotten Noah Kim action at the end of some recent games. We need more of a youth movement.
If Michigan State is going to bounce back from this disappointing season and have a successful 2023 campaign, the young guys need some game experience. We need to see Katin Houser (maybe not burn his redshirt, but play him a few times). We need more Antonio Gates Jr., Tyrell Henry, and Germie Bernard. We need Caleb Coley, Tatum, and Mangham (when healthy).
Play the young guys more because they’re who’s going to turn the program back around.
