Tom Izzo has been hard at work on the recruiting trail all offseason and it just feels like he’s kicked it into another gear recently. The Michigan State basketball coach has been talking with some of the best 2024 and 2025 prospects and he just offered one on Sunday.
Izzo has been preparing for the 2022-23 season which has Michigan State flying under the radar thanks to a number of key departures, but he has kept his squad tight-knit.
We’ll see if this formula for a smaller roster ends up paying off.
And he just hosted another successful Izzone campout over the weekend. The basketball season will be a welcomed sight after a nightmare start to the football campaign.
But back to recruiting: Izzo is putting in some serious work.
Michigan State basketball offers Kur Teng
Kur Teng is one of the best prospects in the 2024 class and Izzo and Co. were by to visit him at his high school over the weekend. After the visit, Teng came away with an offer.
This is a big offer for the staff because he would fill a position of need at shooting guard and he’s one of the best in the country. He’s ranked the No. 8 shooting guard in the class and 36th-best recruit in the nation, per the 247Sports composite. He holds nearly 20 offers and Michigan State seems to be getting in at a good time here.
We’ll see if this turns into an unofficial visit for the Spartans soon, but judging by how quickly Izzo has worked his magic with Coen Carr and Gehrig Normand in the 2023 class, I wouldn’t be shocked if Teng was in East Lansing soon.
