2. Michigan State football goes at least 3-1 in October

Listen, I know how wild this sounds. Going 3-1 with the upcoming stretch seems darn near impossible, but we’ve seen worse Michigan State teams do better in tough stretches like these.

Let’s say Michigan State goes on the road and beats Maryland this week. Sitting at 3-2 before a huge matchup with Ohio State in East Lansing might instill some confidence in this roster. No, I don’t think Michigan State will beat the Buckeyes but if the Spartans can keep it respectable, that will be huge for confidence.

Sitting at 3-3 before the Wisconsin game, I think a win over the Badgers would set this team up nicely heading into a bye week before Michigan. And anything can happen in the rivalry game. Am I confident that Michigan State will beat Michigan? Absolutely not. I think Michigan wins and finally beats Mel Tucker, but anything can happen in a rivalry game.

If Michigan State can find a way to beat Maryland and Wisconsin and then split one of the Ohio State and Michigan games, everything will feel so much better heading into November.
