Stock up: Tre Mosley, WR

Last season, Tre Mosley was the most underrated skill position player on the entire Spartan offense. This season, the secret is out. Mosley finished 2021 with three touchdowns. In the first two games of this season alone, the wideout has nearly matched that total, with two. Mosley finished the game with only two catches for 26 yards and still is under 100 receiving yards on the season. However, he is running precise routes and creating the separation needed.

The Spartans barely needed to pass to win this week, and last week, it seemed every receiver on the roster not named Jayden Reed was left open for a 40-yard touchdown. Mosley has taken a step forward from what I have seen, and he can replace the targets that Jalen Nailor and Connor Heyward got last year. Heyward is no longer around to do damage from the slot, leaving Mosley, Daniel Barker, and Maliq Carr to fill the Heyward-sized hole in the formation.

Stock analysis

I believe that Mosley is due for a great year. While it might not land him on any post-season all-conference teams, I believe that he will end up as an honorable mention.

Remember, Jalen Nailor did not have an overly impressive start to the 2021 season but ended as one of the most reliable targets for the passing offense. Through two games last season, Nailor had 59 receiving yards and a touchdown. Despite playing in only nine games, Nailor finished with just shy of 700 yards; Mosley stands at 77 yards and two touchdowns.

If Mosley can put up even slightly similar numbers to what Nailor put up in 2021, the Spartan offense is in great hands. I believe Mosley will make the leap this year.
