1. An accurate Payton Thorne

Anyone who watched the opener knows that what we saw from Payton Thorne is not what we should expect moving forward.

The junior quarterback threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns with an interception which isn’t too shabby, but he completed just 50 percent of his passes. That just wasn’t good enough. He was overthrowing receivers all night long and his lone pick was probably the worst decision he could have made. He scrambled out of the pocket to his left and instead of tucking and running with about 10-15 yards of wide-open field in front of him, he threw across his body into a defender’s arms.

Thorne was not pleased with his performance and he has already vowed to make the necessary corrections after watching film. He’s going to improve that accuracy and decision-making and cut down on the “happy feet” and jitters in the pocket.

I’d like to see a more accurate Thorne against Akron and he should have plenty of time to throw as the Zips are one of the worst teams in college football.
