2. More Jarek Broussard

I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw from the run game in the season opener. Jalen Berger got the start and the bulk of the carries, rushing 16 times for 120 yards and a touchdown. He just looked like the guy who could lead the backfield in touches and no one would really have a problem with it.

But I’m still a believer in Jarek Broussard.

The Colorado transfer and former Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year had a decent first game with the Spartans, rushing 10 times for 54 yards. While he didn’t have the same success Berger had, he still showcased speed and elusiveness. I’d like to see more of him against Akron.

We’re likely going to see plenty of both running backs against Akron but I’d rather see Broussard play more in the first half than in garbage time in the second half.

Let’s see these two backs complement each other more rather than giving Berger the bulk of the snaps throughout the first half.
