Defensive line: A

Watching the defensive line only rush four and come up with seven sacks on Friday night was astounding. It felt like the Brandon Jordan effect was immediate.

Jacoby Windmon led the way after apparently moving from linebacker to defensive end over the past couple of weeks and he finished with four sacks and seven total tackles. He was in the backfield on seemingly every play and his “ghost” move where he ducks under the opposing offensive lineman’s arms was too quick and confusing for Western’s tackles.

Khris Bogle also had a solid game on the line, picking up three tackles and a sack in his first game as a Spartan; the combo of him and Windmon is going to be disruptive all year.

Jacob Slade, Brandon Wright, and Simeon Barrow all had two tackles each along with 0.5 tackles for loss. Jeff Pietrowski had three tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. This group is deep and it showed against the Broncos.

Michigan State’s line just wore Western down.
