Michigan State football: Bai Jobe’s Alabama visit is all part of the process
Michigan State football’s top commit, Bai Jobe, is taking a visit to Alabama this fall, but fans shouldn’t panic just yet.
Earlier this summer, Mel Tucker picked up his highest-rated commit ever as Bai Jobe picked Michigan State football over Oklahoma and Alabama.
There had been rumors of Vanderbilt being up there close to his final group as well, but he liked what he saw from Michigan State and committed to the Spartans in order to be molded by Marco Coleman and Brandon Jordan at the next level.
Everything has felt good about this recruitment so far — a little too good.
That changed on Wednesday as fans began to panic after hearing that Jobe would be taking an official visit to Alabama this fall for the Vanderbilt game, per Steve Wiltfong.

The main story is obvious: Tucker is going to have to fight to keep another commit after Demetrius Bell decommitted recently after getting Alabama interest. But this one feels different.
This feels more like a “Michigan State is playing with the big boys” in the recruiting landscape. This is very common in recruiting when a top-100 kid commits before taking a bunch of official visits. He took two this summer and Alabama will be his third.
But before we panic, it needs to be noted that if you land an elite recruit, he’s going to be targeted by other top programs. Michigan State has opened itself up for this by landing Jobe. It’s not a surprise in the least.
Also, he’s planning on taking a trip to East Lansing after he visits Alabama so it’s not like Tucker won’t have a chance for a rebuttal after he sees Tuscaloosa.
And Vanderbilt weekend won’t exactly be the most electric atmosphere ever.
Michigan State has to fight to keep recruits because it is recruiting at a much higher level now and top programs want these guys. This is all part of the process and there’s no need to panic yet.
