The last time a running back from a black and gold colored team transferred to Michigan State after splitting carries for a couple of seasons at his previous school, he ended up winning the Doak Walker Award.

Am I predicting that Jarek Broussard is going to come in and win the Doak Walker and Walter Camp awards? No, but I am saying that he has the potential to have a major impact on the Spartans much like his predecessor, Kenneth Walker III, did in 2021.

Broussard was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 after rushing for 895 yards and five touchdowns on 5.7 yards per carry. He took a slight step back in 2021, rushing for 661 yards and two scores on 4.7 yards per touch behind a really bad offensive line. He saw what Walker did in 2021 and transferred in with the hope of being that guy for Michigan State.

Before you ask why I’m not as high on Jalen Berger, I do want to say I’m a fan of his game, but I think the backfield will be Broussard’s this year and then the Wisconsin transfer’s next season.

I’m predicting a 1,000-yard season for Broussard after coming over from Colorado.
