After a decent preseason with the Vikings, former Michigan State football star Jalen Nailor has made the team’s 53-man roster.

It’s roster cuts season and that means we’re going to hear about which former Michigan State football players made their respective NFL rosters and which ones will have to hope for practice squad contracts.

On Tuesday, a number of former Spartans found out their NFL fate.

Justin Layne was cut by the Steelers earlier in the day, but there was also some good news coming out of the league regarding rookie receiver Jalen Nailor.

Despite being on the bubble, Nailor made the roster which means he won the heated battle for that WR5 or WR6 spot on the depth chart. Not bad for a late-round drafted rookie.

Nailor had just five catches for 49 yards in the preseason and left the final game with an injury but that was good enough to impress the coaching staff. He may not be the most popular name on the roster, but with his speed and potential connection with Kirk Cousins, he could be a legit deep threat for the Vikings.

Michigan State is going to have a whale of a time trying to replace Nailor’s speed and production, but hopefully Keon Coleman can fill that void, and then some.

But after watching Coleman excel this fall, you can tune in on Sundays to watch Nailor catch passes from Cousins. He made the 53-man roster over former Spartan receiver Trishton Jackson who finished his career at Syracuse.
